| Standard Oil, New Jersey/Aramco, 1947-50s... In 1947, Russell Lee and Roy Stryker were professionally reunited, as Lee accepted a number of assignments from Stryker, who was then directing documentary projects for Standard Oil New Jersey (SONJ). Many of the same photographers who worked under Stryker in the FSA rejoined him at SONJ, where he was tasked with improving the corporations public image. Many of the photographs taken were directly related to the oil industry, but Stryker instructed his photographers to think more broadly about oil production and its impact on everyday life. Lees negatives taken for Standard Oil New Jersey are now held by the University of Louisville Special Collections. |
