ARTIST Lázaro Blanco
Born in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, in 1938, Blanco studied architecture and physics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and science and physics education at the University of Michigan and SUNY. He has been a teacher since 1964. In 1966, he joined the Photographic Club of Mexico - his first experience with photography. By 1968, he was Coordinator of the International Photography Pool for the XIX Olympic Games in Mexico City. That same year he began his work at the Photographic Workshop of the Casa del Lago, UNAM, which he continues to the present day.

His photographs have served as illustrations in numerous books and have appeared in magazines such as Camera (Switzerland); Zoom (France); Life en Espanol:and books such as Contemporary Photographers; Family of Woman; and Seven Mexican Portfolios. He has participated in exhibits in Mexico, the U.S., Latin America, and Europe. He is a founding member and first vice-president of the Mexican Council of Photography. He lives and works in Mexico City.
