Southwestern Writers Collection Mission
The Southwestern Writers Collection at Texas State University-San Marcos is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary archival repository established to collect, preserve, and make available primary and secondary resource material that contributes to an understanding of Texas and the greater Southwest through its literature, drama, film, music, and other cultural arts. The Collection recognizes that Southwestern culture is continually reimagined by the work of regional artists as well as by contributions produced outside its geographical boundaries. Serving both academic and non-scholastic communities, the Collection promotes interest, appreciation, and understanding through its research facility, as well as through exhibitions, lectures, and other events. Primary resource holdings are also made available through the Southwestern Writers Collection book series with the University of Texas Press, and a world wide web site.
