The Wittliff Collections, including the Southwestern Writers Collection and the Southwestern & Mexican Photography Collection, are located on the 7th floor of the Albert B. Alkek Library on the campus of Texas State University-San Marcos. San Marcos is located between Austin and San Antonio along the IH 35 corridor.

Parking Information

• HOURLY PARKING is available in the LBJ Student Center Parking Garage [#1 on map above].

• LBJ PARKING RATE: $2.00 first hour, $1.00 after that (max $7.00) -- FREE if you enter after five oâ??clock on Saturday or anytime Sunday.

• On WEEKENDS the Alkek Parking Garage [#2] and the Woods Street Garage [#3] are open and free to visitors.

• All exhibits have barrier-free access.

Driving Directions

From IH-35 Exit 206

1. Take Exit 206 and proceed west into San Marcos on Aquarena Springs Drive.

2. Continue past the football stadium (on left), cross the railroad tracks, then get into the right lane.

3. Continue past Strahan Coliseum (on left) and Clear Springs Apartments (on right). Cross the river, and take a right at the light onto Sessom Drive.

4. Go through three more traffic lights (past Peques Street, North LBJ Drive, and Tomas Rivera Drive) and at the STOP sign turn left onto Comanche.

5. Take your first left onto Student Center Drive. Take the first right to access the LBJ Student Center Parking Garage [#1]; entrance to the garage is at the far end.

6. Park and proceed into the LBJ Student Center. Go through the building (down the stairs or elevator and through the main doors) - the Alkek Library is downhill on the left; the Wittliff Collections are on the seventh floor.

Note: • On WEEKENDS the Alkek Parking Garage [#2] and the Woods Street Garage [#3] are open and free to visitors.


From IH-35 Exit 205 or Highway 80

1. Take Exit 205 and proceed west into San Marcos on Hopkins Street, continuing through the intersection of Hopkins and LBJ Drive. The city square and the Hays County Courthouse are located on the left of this intersection.

2. Continue through two more intersections to Comanche Street (there will be an H-E-B on your right) and turn right.

3. Proceed up Comanche, past Woods Street, until you pass under the overhead walkway and take a right onto Student Center Drive. Take the first right to access the LBJ Student Center Parking Garage [#1]; entrance to the garage is at the far end.

4. Park and proceed into the LBJ Student Center. Go through the building (down the stairs or elevator and through the main doors) - the Alkek Library is downhill on the left; the Wittliff Collections are on the seventh floor

From IH-35 Exit 204 or Highway 123

1. Take Exit 204 and turn on Guadalupe Street to head north into San Marcos. (Highway 123 becomes Guadalupe Street.)

2. Driving northwards toward downtown San Marcos, pass Love and Lee Streets, then turn right on Grove Street.

3. Drive only one block on Grove Street, then turn left on LBJ Drive. LBJ is a one-way street with three lanes of traffic. Stay in the left lane until reaching Hopkins Street.

4. Turn left on Hopkins, pass the city square and the Hays County Courthouse, and proceed through the next light. Stay in the right lane.

5. At the next intersection, turn right onto Comanche Street (by H-E-B).

6. Proceed up Comanche, past Woods Street, until you pass under the overhead walkway and take a right onto Student Center Drive. Take the first right to access the LBJ Student Center Parking Garage [#1]; entrance to the garage is at the far end.
